More Travelling

My first time in Lithuania and pleasantly surprised by the architecture and history of Vilnius and the warm welcome of everyone that I met. However it was also very cold and very wet when I arrived. Scaent are publishing “Intelligent Life Lithuania” which is an Economist Magazine and decided to pour “The Spirit Drink that Dare not speak its name” at the launch party. However trying to explain about Glenglassaugh Distillery and our products, to around 500 Lithuanians who were more interested in the free buffet and free drink was an interesting experience.
Returned back from Lithuania late on Thursday night and then left for Wild Whisky Weekend first thing on Saturday morning. A master-class with around 45 Danish whisky enthusiasts, most of who had already attended 2 other master classes that day was an altogether different experience from Lithuania. There was plenty of feedback and fun and I think that we all enjoyed the whiskies, there were certainly bottles of Spirit Drink being purchased after the event.
Visited a fantastic collection of Glenfiddich bottles and memorabilia on Sunday and even had my photograph taken beside the 50 year old which was bottled in 1991. I was manager at Glenfiddich/Balvenie and Kininvie at the time and so my signature is on the certificate.

On to Monday night and another tasting this time in an hotel in the middle of Copenhagen. There was again a packed house, unfortunately this time there was no space for my projector so the audience could only guess at the slides which I showed. The interesting one is at the bottom of the page and feel free to post thoughts on who is in it and when it was taken, incidentally it was found in the old cooperage area at Glenglassaugh when we took over.
Great tasting and a few bottles of product sold plus plenty of interest in the octave cask offer. An empty octave was on tour with me and we also sampled some 4 month old spirit which had matured in the octave cask which I had. I can assure everyone that it has started its maturation very well.
Finally a warm welcome to all our new readers of the blog, a lot of new subscribers from USA and Canada signed up this week. I hope that you enjoy my regular outpourings and that you find some useful information amongst all the words. I will be visiting Canada during January 2010, not just to watch an NHL game but hopefully that too, but to attend the Victoria Whisky Festival and hold a master-class. Maybe I will see some of you there.
