Cask Ownership
We have two different opportunities to be able to purchase a cask of your own Scotch Whisky. In both of these schemes we will fill your cask with our acclaimed new make spirit and store it in our traditional warehouse for a period of not less than 3 years, after which it becomes Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and can be filled into bottles for you to take away.
Most people though, will want to leave their casks maturing for a longer period of time. In both options you have the opportunity visit the distillery to see your cask maturing and when it comes to bottling you can chose your own label and even fill the bottle if you want to. Octaves Our octave casks are 50 litre capacity oak casks which have been specially made for us using staves from larger casks which had previously been used for maturing Scotch whisky. Due to the small volume of spirit in the cask, the whisky matures faster than in a larger cask and is normally bottled at around 5 years of age. This size of cask was popular around the turn of the 20th century when more individuals and small retailers owned their own casks of whisky for personal or business use, however the practice of maturing in the small casks declined as the larger distilling companies found that it was more efficient to deal with only larger customers and larger maturing casks. We are committed to making our high quality single malt Scotch whisky available to as many people as possible and are therefore pleased to be able to offer this product. If you are interested in purchasing your own octave cask then there you can download an order form, terms and conditions of purchase and an information sheet or alternatively contact us by email at casks@glenglassaugh.com Large Casks This is an opportunity for you to purchase one of the larger casks which are more commonly used in the Scotch Whisky Industry today. These casks range from barrels or around 190 litres which had previously been used for maturing American Whiskey to butts of around 500 litres which had previously been used for maturing Spanish Sherry. We have access to a range of cask sizes and cask types based on previous use and if you have a particular preference then we will do our best to source the cask. The whisky in these casks will normally undergo a longer maturation period and typically the casks will be stored for around 10 years. There are a number of other benefits included in this scheme including membership of our exclusive 250 club and if you are interested in this offer then there you can download a brochure and an order form or alternatively contact us by email at casks@glenglassaugh.com. |
