Current Production
The aim of the refurbishment was to use as much of the old equipment as possible and by using the same production methods, thanks to finding the old production records, to produce a new spirit of the highest quality as close to the spirit which had been produced before the shut down as possible.
We believe that we have achieved that and we still produce all of the whisky without the use of computers using only skilled and experienced distillery operators. The capacity of the distillery is much larger than we require to produce the spirit that will mature into quality single malt Scotch whisky and so there are periods when the distillery is not working and we concentrate on other areas of the business. All of our production is used for producing single malt Scotch whisky and is stored on our site next to the North Sea. We use a large variety of casks for maturing the spirit ranging from small 50 litre Octave casks, which are also available for purchase, to barrels which have previously been used for maturing bourbon or wine to butts which have been used for maturing sherry or port. Each of these casks will impart their own influence on the Glenglassaugh spirit which is maturing within it. Would like to know more? Download our information fact sheet. |
