Glenglassaugh 1972 cask 2114 in front LRThe Single Malt Academy of Dalecarlia (SMAD) was established in 1997 and is situated in Borlange, Sweden. It is the biggest non-profit whisky club in Sweden with some 442 members. A total of 85 whiskies were tasted and rated during 2015 with the Glenglassaugh 1972 cask # 2114 being voted ‘Malt of the Year’.

Released in April 2014, this exceptional cask is from the first batch of our Rare Cask Series and demonstrates the complex and distinctive character of Glenglassaugh Distillery. Distilled in October 1972, this 41 years old single malt was matured in the finest sherry butt. On the nose, prunes and rum raisins over milk chocolate releases harmonious crisp oak spice and lime zest and on the palate, spiced honey and stem ginger rolls to prune syrup and hints of cocoa. Gentle cantaloupe melon with a dusting of ground almond and warm white pepper liven the crisp finish.

The Glenglassaugh single casks have proved to be very popular and with the recent release of the Glenglassaugh Rare Casks batch 2, we are confident that we can continue this success.
